And the winners are…

The Unlikely Disciple Easter Giveaway has been a huge, huge success, garnering around 270 entries as of this morning.  I just picked the winners using the random number generator at Random.org, and here’s what I came up with:

1st Place (iPod Shuffle pre-loaded with Christian music, Liberty U. pennant, “Politically Incorrect Since 1971″ t-shirt, and signed ARC of THE UNLIKELY DISCIPLE): Kati (comment posted April 14, 2009, 10:42 am)

2nd Place (LU bottle-opener, plush “Sparky the Eagle” doll, signed copy of THE UNLIKELY DISCIPLE): Furious Jones (comment posted April 13, 2009, 3:14 pm)

3rd Place (LU pennant, copy of “Jerry Falwell: His Life and Legacy,” signed copy of THE UNLIKELY DISCIPLE): David Clark (comment posted April 18, 2009, 3:39 pm)

Thanks to all who entered/tweeted/bought/reviewed/ranted.  You guys are the best.  I’ll be contacting the winners by e-mail later today.

For the rest of you, you can still pick up your copy of THE UNLIKELY DISCIPLE (named the Top Literary Stunt by TIME magazine) on Amazon.com, BN.com, and other sellers.  For more on the book and my experiences at Liberty, check out today’s NY Times review, the official video trailer, or browse this site.

As I said, I have a lot more Christian stuff piled up from my Liberty semester, so check back soon for another giveaway!  Also, if you happen to live in the Philadelphia area, stop by Westtown School at 7:30 PM tonight to hear me talk about the book.  Over and out.

  • Hey. What a ripoff. You said we could enter “through Sunday”, so being very tight on time, I knew I could make my comments, etc. when I had some downtime on Sunday. I open up the page, and NO - you’d awarded the prizes before Sunday was half over. Now if you’re going to be a wordsmith, pay attention to your words.

  • Hi Lin, Kevin here. Sorry about that! Your point is well taken. I was at a book tour stop last night, which prevented me from cutting off the contest at night. I listed it on the afternoon of Easter Sunday, however, so I thought a full week would be enough time to get everyone signed up. I was wrong!

  • Kevin. I am a pastor and a graduate of a christian university. thank you for your candid honesty and your willingness to immerse (spelling) yourself in the christian culture. i look forward to reading your book and think is great what you did. thanks for sharing your views and your findings and just opening our eyes to this thing we like to call christianity in the conservative church. Sometimes I think Jesus would shake His head for what it has been turned into. Blessings brother.

  • Hey Kevin,

I am liking your book so far! I think it’s hilarious that you were A.J. Jacobs’ unpaid intern (/slave). I love his books, including the encyclopedia one as well as the biblical one. You actually remind me of him somewhat, although his antics tend to be a bit sillier.

Anyway, I went to an evangelical college similar to Liberty for one year. It’s called Asbury College and it’s in Kentucky. Even though I’m from a Christian evangelical background, I really disliked it. Now I’m at a big public school and I like your outsider’s perspective on Liberty. I would say Asbury’s a bit more…moderate, but there are definitely some similarities. Good job. I look forward to finishing.

Sorry for writing here but I wanted to contact you and wasn’t sure about emailing.
