What would Jesus do (on spring break)?
Salon.com is running the first excerpt from The Unlikely Disciple, a chapter about my missionary evangelism trip to Daytona Beach with a group of Liberty students, and the successes and failures (mostly failures) we experienced while trying to convert drunken coeds.

Kevin - Your article in Salon is great! I can’t wait to buy the book!

Just wanted to say I really enjoyed your article, and also ask whether any of your Liberty classmates have contacted you since you dropped the ruse? Cheers.

Kevin,
I grew up in a feverishly evangelistic Christian denomination. And although I’ve not been able to leave Christianity behind entirely, my relationship with it remains complicated, and the relationship is unlikely to simplify anytime soon. I know people like those you met at Liberty, and your article shows the kind of grace I aspire to and achieve less frequently than I would like. In that sense, the “you” in your article is more Christian than I am. Thanks for a terrific piece. You’ll be selling at least one copy of your book (I also plan to recommend it to my friends.) Best of luck to you.

Kevin, I recently read the Salon.com excerpt, and forwarded it to my blog partner, Lizzie. It really hit a chord and set off a good conversation between us. We are both now reading the book, and after we do, the conversation will continue. Thanks for a thought provoking book.
